Seven Emirates form the UAE; Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwaim, Ras Al Khaima and the Capital Abu Dhabi. Legal System Five of the seven emirates (with the exception of Dubai and Ras Al Khaima) have joined the federal system. All emirates have
secular and Sharia law for civil, criminal and high courts. The official language is Arabic and English is widely used. The desert  climate is cooler in the eastern mountains. It lies within a sub-tropical zone with mild and pleasant winters but very hot and humid summers.
